about us
A place where work, creation and community have naturally coexisted since 2012.
our story
CRU Creative Hub opened its doors in 2012 on Rua do Rosário, in the Bombarda District. Created to bring together professionals from the cultural and creative industries, it began by combining a coworking space, an independent design shop and a gallery in an informal, accessible environment able to accommodate different disciplines, backgrounds and working rhythms.
Over time, the project expanded into new areas: the photography and audio studios arrived, followed later by the coffee bar. Each area has its own function, and all contribute to CRU’s shared life, bringing work, cultural production and close relationships together.
Over almost 15 years, CRU has welcomed coworkers, artists, designers, brands, trainers, partners and entrepreneurs. Around 40 people work regularly in the space, and more than 350 are part of the network built around CRU. Many collaborations, projects and opportunities have emerged from relationships developed through everyday life here.
This story has also been shaped beyond CRU’s walls. Its connection to the Bombarda District has led CRU to participate actively in the territory’s cultural life, while collaboration with national and European networks and partners has extended its work into sustainability, capacity building, creative entrepreneurship and digital transition.
Since 2012, CRU has grown alongside the people who work here and the Bombarda territory it is part of.
our mission
CRU’s mission is to create an environment that supports work, personal and professional development and quality of life for creative individuals. Through spaces, services and contexts for encounter, it encourages serendipity, exchange between practices and individual growth within an open, informal ecosystem.
In dialogue with the Bombarda District and the city, CRU contributes to cultural life and develops collaborative projects at local, national and international levels, adding value to its community and to Porto’s Cultural and Creative Industries ecosystem.
“We offer spaces and services at an accessible cost, in an environment that supports creativity, productivity, exchange and collaboration.”
our team
From psychology to music, from visual arts to computer science, including economics and photography, we are a team of flexible, cross-disciplinary profiles united by one shared goal: to support and value creative people so they can develop and sustain their professional activities.
