H O T E L is inscribed in a territory of wandering that gives rise to purely optical and sound situations. It is an invitation to roam in an extended space, as a luminous ethereal plane of floating forms in a continuous horizontal plane. The act of walking and the duration of this movement in the space of the exhibition are punctuated by fragmentary, ephemeral, interrupted encounters, with sounds and images that materialize in diverse forms.
Summoning the strangeness of a hotel as a place of passage we inhabit, the exhibition device invites to the experience of duration, to the immersion in the “imagetic landscape and sound affect of this liminal space and time between house and travel, between alieness and identity, between full and empty.“
Expanding photography and sound composition, weapons of choice of the artists in this collective, to shoot in new directions in a collaboration fed by an oscillatory movement of creation that refers to the cinematographic practice of “montage”.
This ethereal space-time acquires a body, by the brief occupation of the bodies that are immersed in it, to leave it vacant as soon by the end of the wandering. “Liquid space and nocturnal time are summoned, calls by various passages, rhythmic affections that cross us and we traverse in the restless stillness of the spaces and times that we inhabit.”
H O T E L will be a first presentation of [ih-the-ee-uh l]. Collective founded on the internet by José Miguel Silva and Rossana Mendes Fonseca, it pursues a movement of search for a common plan where time and space merge in a visual and sound horizon.

H O T E L inscreve-se num território de errância que dá lugar a situações puramente ópticas e sonoras. Convida à deambulação por um espaço dilatado, como que suspenso num éter luminoso de formas flutuantes num plano horizontal contínuo. O acto de percorrer e a duração desse movimento no espaço da exposição são pontuados por encontros fragmentários, efémeros, interrompidos, com sons e imagens que se materializam em formas diversas.
Convocando a estranheza de um hotel enquanto lugar de passagem que habitamos, o dispositivo expositivo convida à experiência da duração, à imersão na “paisagem imagética e no afecto sonoro deste espaço e deste tempo liminares entre a casa e a viagem, entre a estrangeireidade e a identidade, entre o repleto e o vazio.”
Expandindo a fotografia e a composição sonora, armas de escolha dos artistas que compõe este coletivo, disparam em novas direções numa colaboração alimentada num movimento oscilatório de criação que remete para a prática da montagem cinematográfica.
Este espaço-tempo etéreo adquire um corpo, pela ocupação breve dos corpos que nele mergulham, para o deixarem vago terminada a deambulação. “O espaço líquido e o tempo nocturno são convocados, apelos de várias passagens, dos afectos ritmados que nos atravessam e que percorremos na quietude inquieta dos espaços e tempos que vamos habitando.”
H O T E L será a primeira apresentação de [ih-theer-ee-uh l]. Colectivo fundado na internet por José Miguel Silva e Rossana Mendes Fonseca, persegue um movimento de procura por um plano comum onde o tempo e o espaço se fundem num horizonte sonoro e visual.
